Our favorite beat cop, Oliver Fish, tried to suppress his true feelings by sleeping with Stacy and romancing Layla. But he finally came out, to his friends, family, even at work.
I am not a fan of the Gay storyline. Dorian getting married to that woman was really stupid because we all know Dorian loves men. That's like me going gay. . and I know that's never going to happen.
If you can't make the show serious on the subject then don't try at all. This storyline was anything but serious. Seems more like gratuitous "gay theme" just to be popular. What's next Vampires?
I agree, once I saw that there was a new "gay" storyline added to one life to live I was like, "are you kidding?!?" I was kind of disapointed because its like their promoting gay couples and that its normal to be gay. I don't watch episodes when I know its going to be about the gay storyline. I have friends who are gay and they don't really care for it either.
I, too, am so sick and tired of watching gays on TV shows. THIS IS SOOOO BORING! Can't you people think of anything else to write? If not, I'd be willing to write some good stuff for you for free. Now I will have to find something else to watch for 1:00 to 2:00.
You know I have nothing against gay and lesbian couples I have both in my husbands side of the family. But I do not need it flaunted on television. I do not mind knowing they are gay and together and all...I do not need them to show them openly kissing slobbing spit with each other. My chilldren watch with me sometimes and I do not need them seeing it and saying yuck. You know it would be better off where they would let you know where it is leading and fade away leaving the rest to your imagination. Just my opinion don't chastize me for it.
I totally agree! Be more tactful and tasteful with it! I don't condemn them to hell because God judges the heart but I don't condone it and having to watch it! Y&R was more tactful with theirs. May have to just stop watching ABC soaps, and I have watched them on & off for 41 years!!!

You are so right!! "FLAUNTING"?? What about all the hetro SEX going on? Thats not FLAUNTING. this storyline is very tastefully written and the Actors are doing an AWESOME job. Like it or not GAY is REAL!! Its part of this world and you are going to be seeing a lot of it. I love the way this stroryline was written, it shows that Gays are just like everybody else and deserve the same respect. I am hopeing that Fish and Kyle end up married and have custody of Fish Child that Stacy is carrying. As far as I am concerned OLTL is the best soap on TV with the most talented cast and writers on Tv today. As an actor I would give anything to get to work with that talented bunch of people.
I think its great...its about time some people had the guts to really put it out there. All the homophobia needs to stop maybe people can open their eyes, hearts, and mind to how things really are. Worry about theirselves and their own lives. I mean i am an out and proud lesbian and i am grateful people take time to add a little something more close to home on my daytime soaps...a little variety shouldn't hurt anyone...don't like it don't watch it and quit the complaining....PEACE & LOVE!! I am a Christian. I struggled with this for a long time and I can tell you that GOD does not make junk!! Gays are born gay it is not s decision. Jesus never said a single word about Gays. The old testamant laws were written by men. 10 Commandments belong to God. Nothing there about not being Gay. What about adultry and fornication like the bible states is wrong are you OK watching that? God Created Us and we are NOT perverts or pedophiles, those people are sick and have choices, Loving someone of the same sex comes Naturally for Gay people and most of us have to go through a lot of Pain and suffering before we come to accept ourselvs. Young teens will commit suicide if they think they are Gay. I know I tried several times as A teen because of what I thought was sinfull horrible thoughts I was having. I thought they were not normal. People need to wake up and smell the Coffee. God loves a gay couple just as much as hertro. Dont bother quoting scripture cuz I already know it.
I think gay can be understood without so much visualation because it incites a lot of controversy that the soaps really don't need. What they are putting out there now could be insulting to gay and straight alike and I feel they should treat the subject with more respect. The writers seem to be throwing stories at the wall hoping something will stick. Do the research and show both sides of the coin instead of just inserting gay characters here and there.

I agree completely with Blessings486. I especially feel really upset about what they did to Patricia Mauceri. She knows her character and how she would react, considering her religious beliefs. Also, I feel that there was no reason to even put that in the story. Why was it allright for Fish's parents to object, but Carlotta couldn't.
I also want to say that I think that the sex scenes have become far too much (for straight as well as gay). I long for the old days when they kissed, went to the bedroom, and left the rest up to your imagination. It doesn't take much writing to fill the show with sex. OLTL has always been my favorite show (since 1970 in high school), but these days I am not very happy with the storylines.
It's just as realistic that Fish could have had a homosexual relationship in college and then realized that wasn't really for him.
Lots of people do a lot worse things and then change their behavior. I know. I know. Everyone will think I'm anti-gay.
That's not it at all. I know I did a lot of things when I was younger that wouldn't represent me today at all. That would have been just as valid a story line as Fish actually being gay, and it would have been unique since so many shows feature gay characters. I like Fish, the character, straight or gay. I just don't understand why it has to be such a big deal. I'm straight but don't feel the need to announce my favorite activities to the world. I feel the same about gay people. What you do in private, should stay private.
Amen. I agree. If gays were not shoved down our throats we would not care or vote against their marriage. But they have Gay parades, I mean you don't see straight parades do ya? Wow, can't believe the homophobia....have watched soaps for years, I don't recall objections to the highly sexual relationships among the young and beautiful straight characters....these "God-fearing" writers are hateful and total hypocrites....and useless, ignorant unintelligent and highly embarrassing to read. Just because someone does not care to watch homosexuality in action on t.v. does not mean that I am homo phobic. It is my preferance not to be barrated with gays kissing each other. I watch a soap for entertainment and love action. I am straight, watching two gays together does nothng for me. I really don't know of any gays that watch soaps anyway. This is OLTL attempt to get the gay audiance and they will in turn loose their larger audience which is straight women. What gays do for themselves I don't care, as long as they don't shove it down my throat. If OLTL is going to have it as an on line storyline and their audience wants it, so be it. I can turn the channel or the set off. No skin off my nose.
And if the only reason you watch OLTL is to get 'love action' mabye you should go watch a porno instead.Btw- I'm a straight girl and when Kyle and Fish kiss it's HOT and a lot of girls agree with me. If anything, they will gain more straight, female viewers.
It's not the first time they used a gay story line. Remember a young Ryan Phillipe who was abused by his dad and he turned out to be a young gay guy. The story lines are starting to repeat and become a little predictable.
I have no problem with the gay storylines on today's soaps. I do think Y&R was stretching things a bit when they let Adam tell Rafe he was gay, even if he was lying...that was just stupid. As for OLTL's story of Kyle & Fish...it's doable; believable. Can't wait to see how it all pans out.

I REMEMBER WHEN THEY GOT MAD CAUSE THEY HAD A COUPLE DATING WHO NOT OF THE SAME RACE. PEOPLE GOT SO UP SET I TOLD MY SISTER WHO CARES IT'S JUST A SOAP OPERA. BESIDES IT'S GOING NOW WHERE I LIVE I SEE COUPLES WHO ARE BLACK AND WHITE THAT ARE MARRIED OR LIVING TOGETHER. I think OLTL to should be commended for doing this story. Except for the Dorian part, I think it has all been written well and handled realistically. I was just thinking the other day that it's like the OLTL of old---there is diversity. Not only in regards to sexual orientation, but also races and religions. Well done, imo.

I don't know why they can't just leave sex out of storylines PERIOD!! We don't need to see people having sex in order to enjoy a good show. I was shocked when they allowed Starr to end up having sex with Cole and get pregnant, she was the one pure thing about the show and they ruined it and now they want to throw gay relationships in our faces as well. They may be a part of society, but they don't have to put it in the storyline, just like teenage sex. Just because something happens in life, it doesn't mean we want to watch it on our shows. I think it is great that OLTL has a gay storyline with two masculine men (not that there is anything wrong with an effeminate gay person). Gays are a part of our society, just like straights, whites, blacks, latinos, asians, interracial relationships, lesbians, transsexuals, etc., are a part of our society, and there are good and bad in every group, so don't think your 'group identity' in life makes you any better or worse than any other group. And to those persons who say gays are ok but they don't want them to flaunt their affection: Straights have been flaunting it for years, i.e. kissing in public, holding hands, hugging, etc.), and any other adult group, including gays, should have that same right without being harrassed. Get use to it, Openly Gay people are here to stay! And you probably have some gays in your family and daily life and don't even realize it. Also, for everything you do in life that you think is 'normal' or' right' , there are probably 'at least' 1000 other people who think it is abnormal or wrong. I will be watching to see how you merge this important storyline into the intriguing lives of the racially diverse people in Llanview. Also I agree with the teen sex I don't think its appropriate on a primarily adult show for teens to be engrossed in some hot steamy sex act with me see Starr's training bra. Gay storylines have a place in daytime as much as any other romantic storyline! I'm bored with Luke and Noah on ATWT...And they are as of now THE SUPERCOUPLE! (yawn) As a gay man totally excited by the introduction of Gay Characters. BUT BE DAMN SURE THEY ARE INTERESTING for me as a viewer want to comeback! Matter of fact the European Soaps have been introducing these characters for years. Being gay is a storyline. The problems you face. Especially if you are in the closet, discrimination, fear of losing family friends love one.Is going to be iinteresting to see how OLTL writes this story. Especially with Fish probably being the father of Stacey baby. Perphas HE and Kyle can adopt. I think the whole story line will be interesting. ITs sort of ironic iin that the character Fish is in the closet in real life he is openly gay and the Kyle who is openly gay in charaacter in real life he is straight. Its going to be iinteresing to see the reltionship between the two revolve as they rekindle thir college romance.

I don't like those story lines and I don't want to see it at all. My suggestion is where the guys have been dating girls or the other way around (if any) why don't you make them BI as that would be different at least. I don't want to see that they are/have been confused or won't admit they are gay or whatever when they are in there 20's or 30's or even older.

Amen. I agree. If gays were not shoved down our throats we would not care or vote against their marriage. But they have Gay parades, I mean you don't see straight parades do ya? They make it an issue for everyone by flaunting their sexuality. I would not like it if straight people like myself paraded their sexuality and had parades either. Wow, can't believe the homophobia....have watched soaps for years, I don't recall objections to the highly sexual relationships among the young and beautiful straight characters....these "God-fearing" writers are hateful and total hypocrites....and useless, ignorant unintelligent and highly embarrassing to read. Just because someone does not care to watch homosexuality in action on t.v. does not mean that I am homo phobic. It is my preferance not to be barrated with gays kissing each other. I watch a soap for entertainment and love action. I am straight, watching two gays together does nothng for me. I really don't know of any gays that watch soaps anyway. This is OLTL attempt to get the gay audiance and they will in turn loose their larger audience which is straight women. What gays do for themselves I don't care, as long as they don't shove it down my throat. If OLTL is going to have it as an on line storyline and their audience wants it, so be it. I can turn the channel or the set off. No skin off my nose.
And if the only reason you watch OLTL is to get 'love action' mabye you should go watch a porno instead.Btw- I'm a straight girl and when Kyle and Fish kiss it's HOT and a lot of girls agree with me. If anything, they will gain more straight, female viewers.

It's not the first time they used a gay story line. Remember a young Ryan Phillipe who was abused by his dad and he turned out to be a young gay guy. The story lines are starting to repeat and become a little predictable.
I have no problem with the gay storylines on today's soaps. I do think Y&R was stretching things a bit when they let Adam tell Rafe he was gay, even if he was lying...that was just stupid. As for OLTL's story of Kyle & Fish...it's doable; believable. Can't wait to see how it all pans out.

BESIDES IT'S GOING NOW WHERE I LIVE I SEE COUPLES WHO ARE BLACK AND WHITE THAT ARE MARRIED OR LIVING TOGETHER. I SAY GOOD FOR THEM I'VE GOT FAMILY MEMEBERS WHO'S FROM GERMANY AND FRANCE THAT ARE MIXED. I think OLTL to should be commended for doing this story. Except for the Dorian part, I think it has all been written well and handled realistically. I was just thinking the other day that it's like the OLTL of old---there is diversity. Not only in regards to sexual orientation, but also races and religions. Well done, imo.

I don't know why they can't just leave sex out of storylines PERIOD!! We don't need to see people having sex in order to enjoy a good show. I was shocked when they allowed Starr to end up having sex with Cole and get pregnant, she was the one pure thing about the show and they ruined it and now they want to throw gay relationships in our faces as well. They may be a part of society, but they don't have to put it in the storyline, just like teenage sex. Just because something happens in life, it doesn't mean we want to watch it on our shows. I would like, for once in my life, to enjoy a good soap that didn't have to throw all of this sexual immorality into it. It's ridiculous! They are moving to another building, they might as well just keep moving right on out of the tube. I watched the very first show and back then they didn't have all of these relationships, shoving them down our throats. So why now???? I hate it and so does my God.

I think it is great that OLTL has a gay storyline with two masculine men (not that there is anything wrong with an effeminate gay person). Gays are a part of our society, just like straights, whites, blacks, latinos, asians, interracial relationships, lesbians, transsexuals, etc., are a part of our society, and there are good and bad in every group, so don't think your 'group identity' in life makes you any better or worse than any other group. And to those persons who say gays are ok but they don't want them to flaunt their affection: Straights have been flaunting it for years, i.e. kissing in public, holding hands, hugging, etc.), and any other adult group, including gays, should have that same right without being harrassed. Get use to it, Openly Gay people are here to stay! And you probably have some gays in your family and daily life and don't even realize it. Also, for everything you do in life that you think is 'normal' or' right' , there are probably 'at least' 1000 other people who think it is abnormal or wrong. So leave judging others to GOD, and focus on getting your own life together. Stop with the Hate. Prejudice, and Discrimination period, against any group, including gays. I will be watching to see how you merge this important storyline into the intriguing lives of the racially diverse people in Llanview. I see nothing wrong with gay storylines on daytime. After all, they are a part of every day real life in today's society. Let's not be so closed minded and regress.
OLTL is the only soap I still watch but now the stories are getting bad. I don't want to see gay sex & teen sex. What are you turning into with these story lines? With the characters background (Carlotta) she would never accept Christian being gay! You are losing me as a fan quickly and I have been watching since almost the beginning.
How would Christian be gay? Thats not where the story line is going at all. Also I agree with the teen sex I don't think its appropriate on a primarily adult show for teens to be engrossed in some hot steamy sex act with me see Starr's training bra. However, gay people have morals too. Two consenting adults are evil because they are homosexual. They aren't perves. To throw gay sex and teen sex into the same category isn't cool.
Gay storylines have a place in daytime as much as any other romantic storyline! Not everyone fits your idea of 'normal' and I am so very happy that daytime is bringing gay relationships into the spotlight, because it shows people that there are others out there that are trying desperately to fit into the 'acceptable' way of life, desperate enough to go against their true feelings just to keep from making othera uncomfortable. I suppose some people don't understand what it's like to hide who you truly are because you're afraid you'll be targeted and have to live in fear. You know that time when-in a new relationship- all you want to do is make out over dinner, there are people that are scared to do it in public, and I for one believe that they are entitled to every right and common courtesy as everyone else-including having a storyline in Daytime dramas.

Every soap is now including a gay storyline. I really don't care about the sexual orientation of the characters. I want really good storylines that keep my interest.

Being gay is a storyline. The problems you face. Especially if you are in the closet, discrimination, fear of losing family friends love one.Is going to be iinteresting to see how OLTL writes this story. Especially with Fish probably being the father of Stacey baby. Perphas HE and Kyle can adopt. I think the whole story line will be interesting. ITs sort of ironic iin that the character Fish is in the closet in real life he is openly gay and the Kyle who is openly gay in charaacter in real life he is straight. Its going to be iinteresing to see the reltionship between the two revolve as they rekindle thir college romance.

I don't like those story lines and I don't want to see it at all. My suggestion is where the guys have been dating girls or the other way around (if any) why don't you make them BI as that would be different at least. I don't want to see that they are/have been confused or won't admit they are gay or whatever when they are in there 20's or 30's or even older.
