I watched this show for 50 years, and to say I miss it would be an understatement. If I remember right, years ago when CBS took Love of Life off the air, they replaced it with TPIR, so for that reason I barely ever watched it (TPIR), and now they do it again? Makes me want to throw out my TV's and stop buying soap. This week, I looked at the clock hands approaching 2:00, and think "good, Guiding Light will soon be on", then I remember, oh yeah, THEY took it off. I miss the characters, I miss the actors and I miss the story. So needless to say, but I will anyway, CBS messed up, big time by taking it off. I agree that the show slipped in it's ratings over the years, but new storylines and new writers could have saved it. Seventy two years is a long time for a Soap, of course it's missed. Thanks, Kathy
although i saw the proverbial handwriting on the wall, then waited four and a half months for the last show to air, i still get a weird feeling knowing that GL is gone..i honestly didn't think the show would ever be canceled due to the length of time it's been on the air..as of today 9-21-2009, i've turned to my CBS affiliate twice to see TPIR airing where GL aired for so many years...
having watched GL since the late 60s, and after seeing episodes and clips dating back to 1953, the number of times the show was reinvented, frankly, i didn't like the various directions the show went, i saw the end coming for more than 20 years..but now that it is gone, it's strange..sometimes i think the powers that be sat on their laurels for too long, assuming a show with such a long history wouldn't get canceled..if that's the case, that was a very big mistake..and then there were seven..who's next??
I loved Guiding Light watched it with first my Grandma, then my mom, and now myself, with my daughter. When I went to work I DVR'd it. To watch on weekends. It was the only soap I was true to. Even when they changed things with the cameras I still watched. I loved the characters. I could relate to them. After all how many fashion models watch TV? They could have gotten rid of bold and the beautiful it made no sense. I hope they reconsider before it is too late to bring back some of the show to TV. Maybe soap network could pick up the reruns. I would watch again and again.
Well I got so many memories of guiding light the one I like the best is when johnathan fake his and sarah's death and left town to rise his daughter away from the spauldings the other memories I had is when alan and gus was kidnap by beth the other is when ava and olivia found out they were mother and daughter and couldn't stand each other iam so angry they took guiding light of for two hours of the price is right come cbs are you crazy but thata goos to know that some of the actors and actress will be on other soap operas well I enjoyed watching guiding light the first soap opera of my day you will be missed.
Nadine was a fun character. Always enjoyed her scenes with Buzz and her children. I never saw Josh and Reva's first wedding, but perhaps someday I will. I'm sure it's on YouTube. I always liked Josh and Reva. They are the it couple of the show. Harley with Josh was hard to comprehend, but once I saw clips, I understood them. Harley looks even more adorable as a teen. I'm still fuzzy on her relationship with Alan-Michael, but just to gain money & live a better life spells doom for a marriage. I bet both of those Harley relationships were good stories, though.
I think Taylor and ridge deserve to be together after all they have been through. The loss of a child is catastrophic as I know first hand. Let Brooke find some other man.
i got tired of the round-and-round and back-and-forth between Ridge Taylor and Brooke: this has happened far too many times to be the least bit interesting..the only thing that can be said for Ridge is he's never wanting for sex..all this back and forth, round and round, it's interesting how no one's the least bit concerned about STDs...
This is exactly how my friends and I feel about the 'idiots' at CBS ---- because of their emphasis on demographics and greed - when these 'idiots' die and try to join heaven - here is our reply, 'SORRYYYYYYYY, IT WAS CANCELLED!!!!!" - don't get mad - get EVEN!!!

I THINK THEY SHOULD CANCEL BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL ITS NOT GOOD LIKE GL IS I HAVE WATCH IT FOR OVER 15 YEARS AND I WILL GREATLY MISS IT
I STILL AM SO MAD ABOUT GUIDING LIGHT BEING CANCELLED. CBS IS CRAZY AND TO REPLACE THIS SHOW WITH A GAME SHOW IS SO STUPID.
